Stocks surge ahead
Stocks rallied Thursday, as Congressional testimony on the credit crisis offered some encouragement to investors after a two-session selloff. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 173 points around 2 hours into the session. The Standard & Poor's 500 index and the Nasdaq composite also advanced.
